Bushels

Bushel characteristics

A cereal bin is a bulk grain storage silo with a conical bottom in which the cylinder stops at the top of the discharge cone. Loads are taken up in the cement by uprights supported by feet.

Unlike a flat bottom, the conical bottom of the bushel allows the cereal to be emptied completely by gravity.

Galvanizing protects the bushel. The duration of protection is proportional to the thickness of the zinc, so the cylinder of a bushel, its feet and its frame are galvanized Z600 (600 grams of zinc/m²) (or hot-dip).

Bushel diameters

Bushels are available in diameters from 2.68 to 8 meters. A bushel has a capacity of up to 600 tons, and can be fitted with temperature sensors and ventilation devices.

Slope: 45° or 60°, depending on the product stored.

Loading bushels

The loading troughs have a 45° slope, in accordance with the data sheet available for download.

In round bushels, the cone angle is identical over the whole cone, so the grain flows very well, unlike in square bushels.

Privé SA has been manufacturing silos in France for over 60 years.

Privé SA exports 50% of its production.

Conical bottom silos

Characteristics of conical-bottom silos

A conical-bottom silo is a storage silo in which the cylinder descends to the ground. It is an alternative to bushels, with a lower price per housed ton.

The conical-bottom silo differs from the silo equipped with a discharge cone. In a conical-bottom silo, the loads of the cone are taken up by a peripheral hoop and posts attached to the cylinder. In a conical-bottom silo, the inner slab is completely free to allow the passage of grain conveying equipment.

Conical bottom silo options

Conical-bottom silos are available in diameters ranging from 4.46 to 8 meters. A bushel has a capacity of between 8 and 600 tonnes, depending on its diameter and height.

The cone elements can be perforated or non-perforated. The perforated option enables the cell to be used as a long-term storage cell (after the drying season, for example).

Conical bottom silo models

The conical bottom of the silo is available with a 45-degree slope.

Loading bushels

Loading bucket characteristics

The loading bucket is a conical-bottomed silo for storing and shipping grain. The loading bucket has a height of 4.40 meters under the valve for truck loading.

Galvanizing extends the life of the loading plug. In fact, the thickness of the ZINC is proportional to the duration of protection. The cylinder, hoop, cone and feet of the loading bucket are fully Z600 galvanized (600 grams of zinc/m2) or hot-dip galvanized.

In a Privé round cup, the cone angle is identical all around the cone. This is in contrast to a square bushel, in which the angle is 45 degrees only on the flanks. This means that in square cans, the grain flows less well in the English in which the angles are less than 45 degrees.

Loading bucket options

The loading bucket is available with a diameter of 3.57 meters or 4.75 meters.

The loading bucket has a capacity of up to 142 tonnes.

Loading bucket models

The loading bucket is available with a 45-degree slope.
